‘Tis officially the last month of the year, and cue all the
holiday festivities! November is a solid month for cheerleading: football ended
and basketball season started for sideline teams, and competitive teams just
got through (and hopefully placed at) the first competitions of the year! And,
that’s not to mention all the schoolwork cheerleaders log in November, between
college admission essays, midterms, and more. Now that Thanksgiving has come
and gone, and all the department stores are playing holly, jolly Christmas
jingles around the clock, it’s time to reflect on the top cheer news of
November before year’s end.
- First off, we wanted to relish in the gratitude that Thanksgiving brings to the
table (pun intended). November is a time to determine what makes you grateful,
and cheerleading is probably at the top of the list! But, it’s not just your
sport–it’s your cheer supporters, your coach, and your team, too! Your
teammates always have your back, on and off the mat, so we compiled a list of 4
Things Your Cheer Teammates Do that Make You SO THANKFUL, in GIFs!
- Speaking of giving thanks, our friends over at CheerLiving® Magazine released a
special Thanksgiving-themed episode of their web series! It’s not only extremely
entertaining, but tells cheerleaders 8 Reasons to Be Thankful for Cheerleading.
You might have your own reasons, but these are pretty good! We recommend
watching it until the very end, as well… trust us, you’ll be thankful that you
- There’s a lot of history in cheerleading that got lost throughout the
years–history that even the most avid cheer enthusiasts don’t even know about! Since
the end of the year is a time to reflect on personal and team progress, we
wanted to outline how the sport of cheerleading has come to be what it is
today. Through all the changes, we provide A Brief History of Cheerleading.
Now, you know!
- Being on a cheer team feels like you have a second family, but what happens
when you actually DO have family on your team? Having a sister can sometimes
feel like a blessing and a curse, especially when you don’t see eye-to-eye on
things. Whether you are on a team with your sister, coaching a pair of sisters
on a cheer team, or coaching a team with your sister, we highlight 3 Tips for
Coaching Sisters on a Cheer Team.
- Lastly, attention parents! It turns out that joining cheer does more for youth
cheerleaders than most people think. We looked into all the benefits that youth
cheerleading offers, and from what we found out, we put together a list of 5
Reasons Why Your Child Should Join a Pee Wee Cheer Team. And, that goes for Pop
Warner and rec teams, too!
Whether your sideline season is winding down for winter break, or your
competition season is heating up for January, we wish you happy holidays this
December and a Happy New Year!Have you heard of other November cheer news? Let us know in the comments below!
