November is a time to reflect on everything that makes your life great, and all the people, places, and things that make you thankful! You might be studying away preparing for finals, submitting off your last college admission applications, or just counting down the days until winter break, but cheerleaders have more to be thankful for than just turkey on Thanksgiving day. With the holiday season in full swing, we asked cheerleaders what they’re most thankful for over last month, and now have the results!

We asked, you voted, now let’s look at the most popular answers for November 2016:

1. At the number one spot, with a whelping 53%, is the fact that “your team is your second family”. I mean, anyone should be grateful for one family, and cheerleaders are blessed with two! With so much love, dedication, and energy that goes into being a part of a cheer team, you bond with your teammates more in cheerleading than any other sport. Plus, in cheerleading, you literally put your life in someone else’s hands at every practice and during every performance. Not a lot of sports go that far!

2. The second most popular thing that makes cheerleaders thankful, at 19%, is “having good health to cheer”. Being healthy is important in life, but in cheerleading, you really have to be healthy to go full out! Getting sick is detrimental to a cheer team too, because when one person gets the grime, everyone else on the team goes down like dominos. So, cheers to good health!

3. The third most popular answer, with 16%, is “all the yummy holiday food”! The holidays wouldn’t be the same without sharing comfort food with your friends and family, especially Thanksgiving! Although it’s important to remember your fitness routine over the holidays, it’s good to indulge in treats from time to time–if only to reward yourself for a whole year’s worth of conditioning days! Plus, when you hit the gym after a holiday, you work off whatever you ate almost immediately.

4. Last, but not least, 12% of cheerleaders voted that they are thankful for “cheering for others as much as they cheer for you”. Cheerleading isn’t one-sided. Your cheer supporters allow you to love your sport, as you cheer on your sports teams, your teammates, your school peers, your friends and family, and the whole world! Spreading cheer makes everyone feel good, so continue to cheer on your town as you finish the year strong.
